<li>Lose tummy fat!</li>
<li>Lose thigh fat!</li>
<li>Lose arm fat!</li>
<li>Lose chest fat!</li>
</ul>
<p>Who out there does not want to do this?  I know I sure do!</p>
<p>The problem is, these info-peeps are selling a fallacy.  It is impossible to target a specific spot on the body and lose fat from just there.  Fat loss is body-wide.</p>
<p>Want to lose tummy fat?  Excellent!  You can absolutely do it.  The upside is that you will also lose thigh fat at the same time.  You will lose arm fat and chest fat, too.</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Because your body will burn fat from wherever it is.  You see, fat is nothing but stored calories.  When your body needs more calories than is available from the food you just ate, it goes into the storage room and grabs <span id="more-251"></span>the needed calories from the fat.  The thing is, it does not take it just from one place, it takes it from everywhere.</p>
<p>So, if you have a belly you would like to lose, it is very likely that you have fat elsewhere that also needs to go.  Perfect!  Use one area as your motivation and know that other &#8220;secondary&#8221; areas are also being improved.</p>
<p>But, do not buy programs or products that claim to target one area and then look for something else that targets another area.  You DO NOT need them.  Find one that you enjoy and will follow consistently and you WILL get the results the info-peeps promise, you just won&#8217;t be falling for their wild (and erroneous) claims.</p>

<p>The step that should be done last is the one most people do first when trying to lose weight.  By skipping the first two steps, they are setting themselves up for failure (or at least a big dose of disappointment).</p>
<p><strong>Step 3 – Get Moving<span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span></strong></p>
<p>As mentioned above, adding physical activity to your day should be a part of your plan to lose tummy fat.  While what you eat is important, changing just your diet will lead to weight loss, but it the weight will come off slower than it could otherwise.  To get the kind of results you want in as short a time as possible, exercise is a vital component.</p>
<p>If you sit at a desk all day, just about any activity will be a huge help when you first start.  Going for a simple 20 minute walk will lead to some good results.  Of course the results will drop off over time, so you will want to either <span id="more-186"></span>add time to what you do or take turns doing different activities each day.</p>
<p>One of the most asked questions is “What is the best fat loss exercise to do?”  The answer may sound simplistic, but it’s so true.</p>
<p><em>Any</em> exercise you enjoy and will do consistently is the best fat loss exercise you can do.</p>
<p>You see, consistency is far more important than intensity when it comes to weight loss, so figure out what you enjoy doing and do that.  It really is that simple.</p>
<p>Now you have three great weight loss tips.  However, understanding that these tips are all you need to lose weight and knowing how to get them to work together properly are two very different concepts.</p>

<p>And don&#8217;t worry if you get off track, everyone does at some point.</p>
<p>Today let&#8217;s talk about the second step in your plan.</p>
<p><strong>Step 2 – Change what you eat</strong></p>
<p>At the most basic level, in order to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you consume.  There are a number of ways you can do this.  One way is to simply reduce how many calories you eat.  Another way is to add enough physical activity to your day to burn more calories.</p>
<p>When working to lose tummy fat, what you eat is the more important component of your plan.  You can exercise like crazy, but if your food choices are poor, you will not see the results your physical efforts suggest you should see.  This can lead to discouragement, which ultimately will lead to abandoning your goals and quitting.<span id="more-181"></span></p>
<p>Winners never quit.</p>
<p>The preferable way to lose tummy fat is a combination of the two methods mentioned above.</p>
<p>Let’s take a look at what the options look like individually.</p>
<p>By knowing how much weight loss you want, you can figure out how many calories you need to cut from your daily intake.  For illustration purposes consider that a pound of body fat is equal to about 3,500 calories.  Therefore, to lose 1 pound of body weight per week requires a reduction of 500 calories per day.</p>
<p>Conversely, you could also get the same calorie change by keeping your diet as it is and burning an extra 500 calories per day.  This could be achieved by running, biking, swimming, rowing or any other physical activity done in addition to whatever you may already be doing.</p>
<p>Either of the above options can get you results.  The ideal approach is to make better food choices and add in an exercise component.  It all starts with the food choices, though.</p>
<p>Good food choices include cutting out processed foods and sugar and adding fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>Another good choice is to be sure to eat breakfast.  To keep your body in calorie-burning mode it needs to have food to digest.  Nothing derails that calorie burning like skipping meals, and skipping breakfast is the worst meal to skip.</p>
<p>So, two easy steps down, one more to go.  Check back in a couple of days to get the final piece to your weight loss puzzle.</p>

<p>There are millions of people around the world just like you.  They looked in the mirror one day, didn&#8217;t like what they saw and decided it was time to lose tummy fat and get healthy.</p>
<p>The question is, <em>how do I do it</em>?</p>
<p>That is a great question.</p>
<p>With all of those “miracle” products being blasted on TV that turn out to not really work, what can you do?  To get great results that will make you the envy of your family and friends, there are just 3 easy steps you need to follow.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ffffff;">.<span style="color: #000000;">They are:</span></span></p>
<p>-Set a goal</p>
<p>-Change what you eat</p>
<p>- Get moving</p>
<p>Today we will take a look at the first step.</p>
<p><strong>Step 1 – Set a Specific Goal</strong></p>
<p>Losing tummy fat should be approached no differently than any other goal is.  In order to be successful achieving a weight loss (or any other) goal, you need to be as specific as possible about it.  Below are some questions to help you get started:</p>
<p><em>Where are you today?</em></p>
<p><em>Where do you want to be?</em></p>
<p><em>By When?</em></p>
<p><em>How will you do it?<span style="font-style: normal;"> </span></em></p>
<p>You want to lose weight.  Great!  But that alone is not a goal.  In order to set a good goal, you need to be more specific.<span id="more-175"></span></p>
<p>So, let&#8217;s get started.</p>
<p>Ok, you need to know where you are today.  The two big numbers to know are your current bodyweight and your body fat percentage (BF%).</p>
<p>Your bodyweight is less important to track, but it is of use here.  Your Body Fat % (aka body composition) is more useful to you.  As you lose fat you will also gain muscle, which will make it <em>seem</em> as though you are not getting good results.  Don&#8217;t worry, you are making progress.</p>
<p>Your body weight may not change much, but your body composition will.  By changing your body composition you get healthier.  The important thing to remember is the muscle weight gained will offset the fat lost so do not put too much stock in what your scale says.</p>
<p>Now, to answer those questions:</p>
<p><em>First</em>, write down today’s date and your current body weight and body fat percentage.</p>
<p><em>Second</em>, write down your goal weight and body fat percentage.</p>
<p><em>Next</em> write down the date by which you would like to hit your targets and figure out how many weeks away that is from today.</p>
<p><em>Finally</em>, divide your weight loss (in pounds) by the number of weeks you are giving yourself to do this.</p>
<p>A safe amount of weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week (on average).  Does your weekly goal fall within this range?  If it is higher, you should re-visit your plan.  If it is lower, then you may hit your goal earlier than planned.  That is awesome!</p>
<p>Please note, when you begin to lose weight, you may find that you are losing more than 1-2 pounds per week.  That is fine.  This is common for those who have not really tried to lose weight before and for those who are currently extremely overweight.</p>
<p>Over time you will find the pounds come off more slowly.  Do not let this discourage you.  As you have less to lose, your body is slower to let go of it.</p>
<p>Finally, you need to figure out how you will reach your goals.</p>
<p>We will look at this when we investigate the other two steps over the next few days.</p>

<p>This is easier said than done, right?  Well, no, actually it isn&#8217;t.</p>
<p>Below are five mistakes that will hold you back until you fix them.  The good news is that they are easy to fix.</p>
<p><strong>Mistake #1 &#8211; Skipping Meals/Snacks<span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span></strong></p>
<p>When trying to lose weight it is vital that you do not allow yourself to get to a “starving” level of hunger.  When your stomach is yelling at you, your self-control is weak and that is when you make poor food choices.</p>
<p>If you allow yourself to get to a ravenous state, you start loading up on fat-laden foods.  This makes sense becausefatty foods take longer to digest, so they will keep you from feeling hungry for a while.  It may take you longer to feel hungry, but I am sure you agree that this is not a good food choice.</p>
<p>To keep from falling to this temptation, eat 6-8 smaller meals throughout the day rather than three larger ones.  Eating smaller meals will require eating every few hours, but using this method will keep food in your stomach and make it much easier to say no to that greasy hamburger and fries.</p>
<p>Also, <strong>never</strong> skip breakfast.  Get your metabolism going by giving your body something to burn.  Keep it going by eating every few hours.</p>

<p><strong>Mistake #2 – Too Many Salt-filled Snacks</strong></p>
<p>Do you remember the potato chip commercial from a few years ago that had the tag line “You can’t eat just one”?  <span id="more-222"></span>There is a reason why you can’t.  It’s the sodium.</p>
<p>Salty foods are easy to eat quickly.  Sit in front of a bag of chips and see how much of the bag is gone after 20 minutes.  You may be surprised by the result.</p>
<p>The easy answer to this problem is to cut the amount of salt in your diet.  After two or three weeks of little or no extra salt, you will find that salty snacks taste too salty and you will be inclined to skip them or cut way back on how much you eat.</p>
<p>The hard part is pulling it off.  Quitting cold turkey has a low success rate.  If you cannot go that route, then buy reduced-salt versions of your favorite snacks and go easy with the salt added when preparing foods.  As you get used to less salt in your diet, you will find it easier to resist the temptation of salty snacks.</p>
<p><strong>Mistake #3 – Eating Right Before Bedtime<span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span></strong></p>
<p>A key ingredient in your fight to lose tummy fat is to burn more calories than you consume.  Of all the activities that you do in a day, sleeping burns the fewest calories.</p>
<p>Eating just before you hit the sack is essentially sabotaging your efforts because you have filled your stomach with a bunch of calories, but will not be doing anything again until tomorrow.  Since you will not be burning the majority of those calories, your body will convert those unused calories into fat for later use.</p>
<p>Make it a practice to be sure to give yourself two hours of awake time after eating before going to bed.  If you are spreading your eating over 5-6 meals per day, you should find that this is easy to do.</p>
<p><strong>Mistake #4 – Eating As Though “Weekend” Means “No Calories”</strong></p>
<p>It is easy to let yourself go on the weekends.  This is a time that many of us get together with family and friends, a lot of times this means a trip to a restaurant.  Just because you are out for a good time does not mean that your choices do not have consequences.</p>
<p>Eating out is not a bad thing; it is just more difficult to know exactly what is in your meal.  Restaurant food is notorious for large serving sizes and for being loaded with such nice ingredients as saturated fat and sodium.</p>
<p>Knowing what makes a good food choice as opposed to a bad one is the easiest way to keep from wasting the hard work and good choices you put in Monday – Friday.  Pretty much anywhere you go will have menu items that are better choices than other items.  Keeping in mind that you are trying to lose tummy fat will help you make the right decisions.</p>
<p><strong>Mistake #5 – Drinking<span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span></strong></p>
<p>Alcohol is the arch enemy of <span style="color: #0000ff;"><a href="http://www.losetummyfatplan.com/TT-Trial" target="_blank">weight loss plans</a></span>.  The number of empty calories in one drink may not seem like much on its own, but how many times do you have just one drink?  If you have a drink or two each evening with dinner, by the end of the week you have consumed nearly one full day’s worth of calories.   Or worse, if you go bar hopping with friends, you can get all of those calories in one night.</p>
<p>A week is 7 days long, why hamper your weight loss program by eating 8 days worth of calories?</p>
<p>Add to the fact that alcohol lowers one’s inhibitions and it is easy to see that poor food choices will be made while drinking.  That is a double-whammy that will kill even the best efforts to lose tummy fat.</p>
<p>You have weight loss goals and do a lot of good things to work towards those goals, but there are traps out there waiting to sabotage your efforts.  By being aware of these traps you will make good choices and continue to lose tummy fat.  Before you know it, you will have blasted right through your hurdles and have the flat stomach you have always wanted.</p>

In theory, it should work so perfectly well for all men and women, but as anyone who has tried it knows, the practicality of it just doesn&#8217;t add up.</p>
<p>After all, some men and women do cardio 6 hours, 9 hours, or more per week, and still have belly fat to burn. On the other hand, it works just fine for others.</p>
<p>British researchers wanted to get more insight into this paradox, and studied 35 overweight men and women, who weren&#8217;t previously exercising.</p>
<p>(Reference: International Journal of Obesity 32: 177-184, 2008).</p>
<p>Subjects exercised 5 times per week for 12 weeks. That&#8217;s a lot of exercise, but it helped the subjects lose an average of 8.2 pounds, which is great &#8211; I was positively surprised by the results.</p>
<p>So cardio will work for some people, however, in my experience, it works best in young men, who need the help the least!</p>
<p>Back to the study, the variance in fat loss between individuals was huge. Check this out&#8230;</p>
<p>The best subject lost a staggering 32.3 pounds in 12 weeks, while the worst subject actually GAINED 3.74 pounds.</p>
<p>The scientists think they know where things went sour. They classified the subjects into 2 groups, called the &#8220;Compensators&#8221; and the &#8220;Non-compensators&#8221;.<span id="more-63"></span></p>
<p>The Compensators were hungrier, and as a result consumed an extra 268 calories per day, all but wiping out their cardio efforts.</p>
<p>Therefore, the Compensators lost the least amount of weight, and scientists believe that was due to the huge &#8220;compensatory&#8221; increase in appetite experienced by this group.</p>
<p>Does your appetite increase when you do slow cardio? If it does, research shows it will ruin your cardio efforts.</p>
<p>So if your cardio program is not working for you, check your appetite and calorie intake to see if you are &#8220;compensating&#8221; for your efforts. If you are, you might be better off using a program of high-intensity resistance and interval training (i.e. Turbulence Training) for your weight loss efforts.</p>
<p>As Australian Professor Steve Boucher has shown in research, interval training increases hormones called catecholamines. And increased catecholamines can reduce appetite, among other fat-burning benefits.</p>
<p>In the real world, few people lose 33 pounds after 12 weeks of cardio. Heck, few even achieve an average weight loss of 8 pounds with aerobic exercise.</p>
<p>So again, check your appetite, and consider giving high-intensity exercise a go for your next workout program.</p>

When doing a chin up you grab the bar with your palms facing toward you.  If you want a bigger challenge, do a pull up. <p style="padding-left: 30px;">4.	<strong>Mountain Climbers</strong> – This exercise will work your abs while also adding a cardio element to your workout.  When doing these it is important to bring your knees into your chest as much as possible and then kick out as far back as you can.</p>
