Spot Fat Loss – Fact or Fiction?

If you have ever gotten caught up watching one of those exercise infomercials that seem to be on 24 hours a day, then I am sure you have heard claims to:

  • Lose tummy fat!
  • Lose thigh fat!
  • Lose arm fat!
  • Lose chest fat!

Who out there does not want to do this?  I know I sure do!

The problem is, these info-peeps are selling a fallacy.  It is impossible to target a specific spot on the body and lose fat from just there.  Fat loss is body-wide.

Want to lose tummy fat?  Excellent!  You can absolutely do it.  The upside is that you will also lose thigh fat at the same time.  You will lose arm fat and chest fat, too.

Why?

Because your body will burn fat from wherever it is.  You see, fat is nothing but stored calories.  When your body needs more calories than is available from the food you just ate, it goes into the storage room and grabs the needed calories from the fat.  The thing is, it does not take it just from one place, it takes it from everywhere.

So, if you have a belly you would like to lose, it is very likely that you have fat elsewhere that also needs to go.  Perfect!  Use one area as your motivation and know that other “secondary” areas are also being improved.

But, do not buy programs or products that claim to target one area and then look for something else that targets another area.  You DO NOT need them.  Find one that you enjoy and will follow consistently and you WILL get the results the info-peeps promise, you just won’t be falling for their wild (and erroneous) claims.
